Nigerian woman busted for drug dealing

Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau (SANEB) in Johannesburg have on Tuesday arrested a 37-year-old Nigerian woman for dealing in drugs.

Police followed on information regarding drug dealers in Buccleauch where they found Clara Maduka in possession of 594 wrapped cocaine rocks at an estimated value of R90 000. She was arrested immediately.

Maduka appeared before the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Wednesday for dealing in drugs and was remanded in custody. The case was postponed to Friday, 10 February 2017 for formal bail application and further investigation.

Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Acting Provincial Head for Gauteng Brigadier Sekelema Lewele warns the drug dealers that the Hawks will put out all stops in their quest to arrest anyone who is found to be dealing, manufacturing and or distributing drugs in the Republic of South Africa. “It is our mandate to get rid of the scourge of drugs within our communities, and we will do so without fear or favour”, he said. Brigadier Lewele also commended officers who are working tirelessly to nab drug dealers.

More arrests are expected to be made.
