Department puts a smile on faces of three elderly people in Robega

Premier of Bokone Bophirima Supra Mahumapelo has put a smile on the faces of three elderly people of Robega Village near Rustenburg. Premier who was accompanied by MEC for Local Government and Human Settlements Galaletsang Gaolaolwe knocked and appeared at the front door of their dilapidated shacks to hand over newly built Breaking New Ground - BNG houses by the Department.

When handing over the houses to Mokgothu, Sham and Malwane families Premier Mahumapelo indicated that the provincial government remains committed to providing decent housing to its struggling citizens.

“These houses do not only serve as a form of shelter to you and your family but it also restores dignity to our elders. We have prioritised the elderly because they have been waiting for many years. By so doing we are showing them that they are not forgotten and that they are loved and cared for like younger citizens of the province’’ remarked Mahumapelo.

Mr Johannes Mokgothu was delighted to see Premier Mahumapelo at his home. Ms Nozipho Malwane also could not contain her excitement after she was handed her house keys. ”I can’t begin to express my happiness, I’m out of words. I’ve never thought in my life that my family will own a house with services such as electricity and water” said Malwane.

Premier Mahumapelo added that: “Oliver Reginald Tambo was very passionate about service delivery and improving the lives of the under-privileged. We can only honour him by making sure that as the department we deliver on our promises.

As the provincial government we will continue to make strides in improving the lives of ordinary citizens and ensure housing, security and comfort to all” concluded Mahumapelo.
