Ground-breaking research on the internet habits of Western Cape residents will be released this week.
Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, will present the Western Cape Digital Readiness Assessment on Thursday.
The research, which was commissioned by the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, surveyed thousands of households in the province.
Minister Winde said the report sheds light on the levels of digital adoption, how much residents spend on internet and mobile services, how they’re accessing the internet and for what they are using the web.
The Western Cape Government is investing over R2 billion to connect residents to broadband. The new research is a critical information tool to ensure the success of this project.
