MEC Dan Plato hosts Mitchell’s Plain Policing Needs and Priorities workshop and Women's Month outreach, 29 Aug

This weekend, Saturday 29 August 2015, Western Cape Minister of Community Safety, Dan Plato, hosts the Policing Needs and Priorities (PNP) safety workshop in Mitchells Plain and Women’s Month safety outreach in Pelican Park.

Minister Plato will attend the final day of the 2 day Provincial Policing Needs and Priorities consultation workshop for the Mitchell’s Plain police cluster in the morning. The workshop will see the communities Mitchells Plain, Athlone, Grassy Park, Lansdowne, Lentegeur, Philippi, Steenberg and Strandfontein have the opportunity to contribute to a practical and implementable safety plan being drafted, as a safety blueprint for the respective communities.

In the afternoon, Minister Plato will host the Department of Community Safety’s Women’s Month outreach event in Pelican Park. The event, as part of the larger Women’s Month events, engages communities to inform them of relevant safety information and invite them to honour women from the different areas, to highlight women’s safety and to pledge men’s responsibilities in the fight against violence against women around the theme of “Building resilient Families”.

There will be an opportunity for photographs and interviews.

All media are invited to attend.
