Minister Nathi Mthethwa launches Africa Month in Pretoria, 3 May

The Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr Nathi Mthethwa invites media to the launch of Africa Month on Wednesday, 3 May 2017 at Fountains Valley, Pretoria under the theme “The Year of OR Tambo: Building a Better Africa and a Better World!.

The Month of May is recognised as Africa Month, to celebrate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity on 25 May 1963, it was on this date that the 25 May was declared as Africa Day as a symbol of unity amongst all Africans.

The 2017 Africa Month programme key focal point will be on colloquia, creating discussion platforms for South Africans especially local communities to engage into a conversation within the broader theme of decolonisation. Activities for the whole month will be outlined at the launch.
