Minister Joe Maswanganyi tables Transport Dept Budget Vote at NCOP, 20 Jun

Minister Maswanganyi presents Transport Budget Vote policy statement in National Council of Provinces

The Minister of Transport, Joe Maswanganyi, will table the Department of Transport Budget Vote Policy Statement in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) in Cape Town on Tuesday, 20 June 2017.

Minister Maswanganyi will be joined, during the tabling, by Roads and Transport MECs, CEOs of transport entities as well as key stakeholders in the transport sector.

Among others, Minister Maswanganyi will highlight:

  • development and implementation  interventions aimed at improving road, rail, aviation and maritime sub- sector transport systems and operations;
  • ensuring the construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure while creating jobs and job opportunities;
  • enhancing transport safety and security by implementing the Road Safety Strategy, and
  • improving the provision of quality public transport infrastructure and services including learner and non-motorised transport.

Minister Maswanganyi will also give an update and highlight the achievements and progress made by the Department in the carrying out of its mandate to date across all modes and the challenges experienced in the transport sector.
