Minister of Labour convenes Healthy and Safety Imbizo in Belgrade, north of KwaZulu-Natal

The Minister of Labour, Mildred Oliphant, will host an Imbizo about health and safety in the workplace with young workers in Belgrade, north of KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday 24 June 2017.

The Imbizo is aimed at educating and engaging the youth in the area – especially those who are predominantly new in the labour market – on labour laws with key emphasis on the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS) and Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA).

The Imbizo, which is is line with Youth Month, will provide a platform for robust engagements with the aim of ensuring that young workers in the area know their labour rights and the processes to follow when they are injured at work.

Various stakeholders, including the National Youth Development Agency, uPhongolo Local Municipality, TVET Colleges and SETA’s will also participate in the Imbizo.
