Limpopo Provincial Government to host a symposium on violence against Women and Children

Violence against women and children has escalated tremendously in our Province in the past few months. At the top of the list is the district of Vhembe with the highest rate of crime and gender based violence. The Limpopo Provincial Government under the leadership of Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha, will host a dialogue on Violence against Women and Children in the form of a symposium.  In partnership with the Department of Safety, Security and Liaison, the Office of the Premier will host a symposium on the 24th August 2017 at Porsche-Villa in Thohoyandou.

The scourge of violence against women and children can be attributed to lack of parental supervision, socio-economic issues, alcohol and drug abuse. The symposium will debate these factors and try to come up with solutions and ways to remedy this situation. Through this sympossium, the Limpopo Provincial Government hopes to restore confidence around the safety of women and children in the society.

Several stakeholders such as University of Venda, University of Limpopo, Munna ndi Nnyi, Traditional Healers, POWA, Not-in-My-Name, Psychologists and Social Workers, will be given a platform to deliberate on formulating solutions that will end this plague.
