KwaZulu-Natal Treasury on infrastructure developments in Nquthu

KZN Treasury promises development in Nquthu

Head of KZN Provincial Treasury, Simiso Magagula, promised the community of Mashesheleng, Ward 12 in Nquthu that the government has not neglected them. He said this during KZN Treasury’s post-budget outreach which was attended by community leaders and the general community.

“We have invested R50 million in this area to ensure we address challenges of underdevelopment. R480 million has been earmarked to address aging infrastructure in Nquthu and the whole of uMzinyathi District.

We have a responsibility to explain these plans to you as government so that you will know that the KZN government is committed to developing your areas,” he said.

The outreach included visits to a youth-led Sanelisiwe Co-operative that is focused on sewing golf shirts and uniform for the local schools and Kutloanong Luncheon Club made up of 23 elderly people.

The MEC for Finance, Belinda Scott made donations to these organisations which include sewing machines, chairs, cooking stove, pots and many other things.

“These organisations assist our government to eradicate poverty and unemployment and that is why it is crucial to support and guide them so that with their support, we as government, can intensify the fight against poverty, equality and unemployment,” said Scott.

Dumisani Mthimkhulu, a local citizen, said they appreciate the plans made by government to develop their area, but they still need more.

“We need proper toilets, water and sports facilities. Sport will help our youth to be active and stay away from wrong doing,” he said.
