Shortlisted candidates for a judicial vacancy at the Constitutional Court and vacancy of Deputy President at the Supreme Court of Appeal
On 31 March 2015, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) published an advertisement calling for nominations of interested persons to fill a vacancy in the Constitutional Court which arose following the retirement of Justice Thembile Skweyiya. The closing date for the nominations was set for Friday, 24 April 2015 and subsequently extended to 11 May 2015.
Following the closing date, the JSC has compiled a shortlist of candidates to be interviewed on 09-10 July 2015 for the above-mentioned position as follows:
1. Justice Nonkosi Zoliswa Mhlantla
2. Judge Dhayanithie Pillay
3. Justice Leona Valerie Theron; and
4. Justice Zukisa Laura Lumka Tshiqi
The JSC will also interview Justice Mandisa Muriel Lindelwa Maya for the vacant position of Deputy President of the Supreme Court of Appeal following her nomination by the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr J G Zuma.
The organized legal profession, institutions with an interest in the work of the JSC and interested persons are requested to submit comments on the abovementioned candidates to the Secretariat of the JSC by no later than 22 June 2015. The shortlisted candidates, all of them women Judges, will be interviewed on 09-10 July 2015 in Johannesburg. Details of the time and exact venue for the interviews will be communicated to the shortlisted candidates and the public in due course.
