Two suspects arrested for human smuggling

A crime intelligence operation together with the HAWKS has landed to truck drivers behind bars.

The two, Idrisa Yusuf Mussa (39) and Danison Prahima (39) were arrested on the 28 July 2016 and appeared last week Friday in the Marble Hall Magistrate Court for human smuggling.  They are set to appear gain on Tuesday for a formal bail application.

Police intercepted two suspicious trucks parked on the road near Marblehall. While conducting a search of the two trucks, police were shocked to discover 59 Malawian migrants whom amongst other include nine (9) females of which two are minors and the rest are adult males. The 59 migrants were found crammed at the back of the truck some in a dire state suffering from dehydration.   

Some of the immigrants were found with counterfeit passports.  All the 59 individuals will be charged for being in the country illegally and are expected to appear in the Marblehall Magistrate Court on 01 August 2016.  Police investigation continues.
