Deputy Minister Mcebisi Skwatsha hands over house to elderly man in Philippi as part of Human Rights Month, 30 Mar

The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Mr Mcebisi Skwatsha will hand over the newly renovated house to an elderly man in Philippi, Cape Town, Western Cape.

As part of his Mandela Day Program in 2016; the Deputy Minister, with the assistance of a private company (Nedebe Group) and the Department of Correctional Services; started with the renovations of an RDP house belonging to 83 year old Mr Monwabisi Tyewu (ward 88 – Phillipi) after community members had requested his intervention upon seeing the bad condition of the house.

The Department of Correctional Services availed inmates to do the work and Nedebe Group mobilised building material for the construction. To mark the completion of this undertaking and to witness the change in the quality of life of Mr Tyewu and the tenants in his property members of the media are invited as follows:
