Inaugural Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal Provincial School Sports Cup

Bophirima Office of the Premier in collaboration with the provincial department of Education and Sport Development will this week host the inaugural two-day Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal (RHR) Provincial School Sports Cup at Olympia Park Stadium, Rustenburg.

In what promises to be an exciting, fun-filled and educational sports tournament, 16 schools from the four districts of the province will vie for the tournament cup during the games that will be held on Friday, 28 and Saturday 29 April 2017.

Each district will be represented by four schools, which will participate in the four sporting codes, namely, football, netball, rugby and cricket.

Participation in these four codes will include different ethnic groups, this in an attempt to promote social cohesion, cultural tolerance and the understanding of reconciliation, healing and renewal from an early age.

On Friday evening, Premier Supra Mahumapelo will lead a conversation on “Unity in Diversity”, the participants of which will be 12 learners from different schools in the province.

RHR is one of the five concretes prioritised by the 5th Administration of Bokone-Bophirima, which aims to unite the citizenry and encourage the spirit of working together towards achieving the province’s economic and moral success.

Members of the Executive Council, Executive Mayors and Mayors, led by Premier Mahumapelo, will attend this Provincial School Sports tournament, which will from now onwards, be an annual activity.

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal (RHR) Provincial School Sports Cup that will start at 08h00 on Friday, 28 April, at Olympia Park Stadium, Rustenburg. The tournament finals for all sporting codes will be held on Saturday, 29 April.
