Eastern Cape Legislature welcomes German delegation, 15 Mar

The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature Speaker, Ms Noxolo Kiviet, will be hosting an 11 Member delegation from the State of Lower Saxony Parliament, Germany on Wednesday, the 15th of March 2017.

The 10-member delegation will be led by the President of the State of Lower Saxony Parliament, Mr Bernd Buseman, and will meet the Legislature Presiding Officers before addressing the House at 14h00.

The Government of the State of Lower Saxony, Federal Republic of Germany, and the Government of Eastern Cape Province, Republic of South Africa have been maintaining cordial relations for many years, carrying out joint projects on the basis of the Joint Declarations dated 16th of August 1995 and 23rd of August 2004.

Both Participants acknowledge the success of the 22 years of cooperation in the spirit of partnership between their regions and declare their intention to further strengthen this cooperation.

This partnership aims to promote and encourage cooperation in the following areas:

  • Economic co-operation and technical vocational training;
  • Education system and health care;
  • Cultural co-operation.

The envisaged partnership between the two oversight bodies will without doubt intensify the oversight efforts in the above areas of cooperation with their respective Executive Arms.

A guided tour to the Bhisho Massacre Monument, Steve Biko Centre, Mercedes Benz Plant and East London IDZ will be organized for the delegation.
