Arrangements for the Official Memorial Service and Special Provincial Official Funeral of Mr Ronnie Mamoepa

President Jacob Zuma has declared a Special Provincial Official Funeral for the highly regarded government communicator, accomplished public servant and freedom fighter, Mr Ronnie Mamoepa, who passed away in Pretoria on Saturday, 22 July 2017 after a long illness.

An official memorial service will be held at the Tshwane Events Centre on Thursday 27 July 2017, followed on Saturday by a funeral service at St Alban’s Cathedral in the Pretoria CBD.

Mr Mamoepa will be buried at the Zandfontein Cemetery west of Pretoria.

Details of the events are as follows:

1.     Official Memorial service

Date: Thursday, 27 July 2017
Time: 10:00am
Venue: Tshwane Events Centre        

2.     Details of the funeral

Date: Saturday, 29 July 2017

Time: 07:00 am

Venue: St Alban’s Cathedral Church, Nana Sita Street, Pretoria CBD.

3.     Parking of OB Vans and Rigging for the official memorial and funeral

A technical media briefing and a dry run will take place at the Tshwane Events Centre at 15:00 today (26 July 2017)

4.     Social Media

Those who wish to send messages of condolence through social media are advised to use the hashtag #RIPRonnie.

5.     Condolence Books

Condolence books will also be placed at GCIS and Union Buildings for anyone who may wish to come and give a message to the family pre and post the memorial service.

6.     Government communicators and journalists pay tribute

Time: 09:00

Venue: 1035 Tshedimosetso House, Corner Francis Baard & Festival Street GCIS, Hatfield in Pretoria 

The memorial service will be attended by the Minister of Communications, Ms Ayanda Dlodlo, government communicators as well as members of the media. The Communicators’ Memorial will afford communicators and the media a platform to share memories and celebrate the life of Ronnie Mamoepa.
