Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson hands over bursaries to Emthanjeni Local Municipality learners, 24 Jan

On 24 January 2017, Minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson will return to De Aar to handover bursaries to grade 12 learners from schools which attended last year’s “Schools Energy Day” event.  The Bursaries will be given to 2016 grade 12 learners who have performed exceptionally well during the final results.

The “Energy Day” is an annual event initiated by the Department of Energy (DoE) to create awareness on career opportunities available within the energy sector. It aims to recruit learners to take up subjects and pursue careers in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics.

The event also serves as an opportunity for the DoE to engage and educate learners about the various forms of energy sources and how they contribute towards economic development.

Minister Joemat-Pettersson will be accompanied by the Premier of Northern Cape Province, Ms Sylvia Lucas, Executive Mayor of Pixley Ka Seme District Municipality, Cllr Kibi and Mayor of Emthanjeni Local Municipality, Cllr Sthonga.
