Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in partnership with the Department of Social Development hosts seminar on Emerging Evidence on the Impact of Government’s Programmes on the Wellbeing of Young Children, 28 April 2015

The Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in partnership with the Department of Social Development is hosting a seminar to explore emerging evidence on the impact of government programmes on the wellbeing of young children. This seminar will draw primarily from three evaluations (nutrition of under 5s, impact of Grade R on subsequent learning and early childhood development) in the National Evaluation Plan and other research focused on children.

Last week (15 April 2015), Cabinet approved the evaluation titled Nutrition for Children Under 5s which assessed 18 nutrition interventions being implemented by various government departments and aimed to assist government in improving implementation and scale-up of nutrition interventions for children from conception to age 5.  The evaluation report was approved in March 2014, an improvement plan drawn up in September 2014, and the evaluation report was approved by Cabinet on 15 April 2015, from when the report is made public.

Key findings from this evaluation will be part of the discussion. All media are welcome to attend.
