Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation hosts Social Economic Impact Assessment System colloquium, 29 Mar

The Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation ( DPME) will host a colloquium to discuss the impact assessment system for all policy, legislation, and regulations, referred to as the Social Economic Impact Assessment System (SEIAS).

SEIAS is in line with the National Development Plan (NDP) and Medium Term Strategic Framework (MTSF) to improve policy development and create a more efficient development of legislation and regulations. SEIAS aims to revive the implementation of impact assessment across government.

The roll-out and implementation of the SEIAS is now in its 17th month and this is an opportune time for government to assess the progress and draw on valuable lessons in the implementation of the system.

The colloquium will be one of the many processes of assessment and review of SEIAS and it will be attended by government officials, key academics and research organisations that have worked on the SEIAS methodology.

The session is expected to focus on addressing some of the initial challenges and review and enhance the utilisation of the SEIAS methodology across government. Similar sessions will be extended at a later to external stakeholders such as organised business, labour, research organisations, academics and other organisations working on impact assessments.
