Minister Jeff Radebe addresses National Evaluations Seminar in Pretoria, 27 Jun

Minister in the Presidency responsible for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairperson of the National Planning Commission, Jeff Radebe will deliver a keynote address at the National Evaluations Seminar hosted by the  Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (DPME) under the theme: “Doing much better: Improving Government Performance and Accountability through Evaluation”.

The objectives of the seminar are amongst others to develop the capacity of relevant national and provincial officials in evaluation through knowledge sharing and peer to peer learning. Furthermore the seminar will facilitate a dialogue between DPME, Offices of the Premier and National departments on the evaluation function.

The first National Evaluation Plan (NEP) for 2012/13 was approved by Cabinet in June 2012, with the first evaluations starting in October 2012. Since then, some 54 evaluations have been completed or are underway and more departments are becoming involved in the evaluation system. As many as 36 provincial and national departments now have departmental evaluation plans and have adopted the National Evaluation System.

Minister Radebe will also lead a media briefing to give more details on the evaluations conducted on Human Settlements, Education and Environmental Governance.
