Deputy Minister Enver Surty hands over Parkview Primary School in Altantis, 10 Feb

The Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Mr Enver Surty, through the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative (ASIDI) of the Department of Basic Education will on Wednesday 10 February 2016 continue to deliver sustainable change to rural and urban underprivileged education with the official handover of Parkview Primary School in Altantis, Cape Town.

Having ended off the year in with the handover of Westfleur Primary School, the community of Atlantis will open its doors to yet another centre of excellence in Parkview Primary School. Built at a cost of R63 million as part of the Department’s flagship ASIDI project, Parkview Primary School forms part of the R8.2 billion programme whose mandate is the eradication of schools built from inappropriate material and to provide basic services of water, sanitation and electricity to those schools that previously had none.

With 135 schools completed to date, more than 20 of which are in the Western Cape, ASIDI continues to restore dignity to rural and underprivileged urban education.
