Deputy Minister Hlegiwe Mkhize attends Information Ethics and Digital Opportunity Conference, 26 to 27 Mar

The Deputy Minister for Telecommunications and Postal Services Hon. Prof. Hlengiwe Mkhize is currently attending a two day conference on Information Ethics(IE), in line with the South Africa Connect Policy.

This conference is the culmination of the Information Ethics work which has been implemented by the University of Pretoria's African Centre of Excellence for Information Ethics (ACEIE), the Department of Telecommunications and other partners like UNESCO.

Information Ethics in democracy , entails dilemmas and contradictions in accumulating information for Accessibility, Development, Ethics, Literacy, Multi-linguism, Cyberspace and Preservation.

The Centre for Excellence in partnership with the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services in collaboration with UNESCO Information  For All Program (IFAP) have over the past 3 years partnered with  National Commission for UNESCO, in different African countries by running workshops on Information Ethics. This conference is a report back platform by country representatives  from the continent. 

Deputy Minister will today address the delegates and receive the curriculum for in-schools and out-of- school programmes on information ethics. The received document dictates the outcome agenda.
