Minister Thulas Nxesi awards bursaries and certificates of recognition at St. George’s Hotel, 13 Jan

Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi, MP, cordially invites you to the Bursary awards ceremony and the handing over of certificates of recognition to Young professionals and Internal Audit Technicians respectively.

The event will be held on Friday, 13 January 2017 at the St. George’s Hotel at 9h00. This forms part of the department’s mandate to transform the built industry and invest in young people studying towards careers in the built industry.

On the day, Minister Nxesi, will award 40 bursaries worth R130 000 each to the successful grade 12 learners of the class of 2016, mostly from rural, township and disadvantaged schools from various provinces.

The bursaries are part of the built environment skills pipeline strategy adopted by the Department of Public Works (DPW) which is aimed at addressing the built environment skills shortages.

The programme is aimed at providing enough competent and professional skills through supported and funded secondary and tertiary education programmes.

The Minister will officially hand over the certificates to 32 young professionals and 24  Internal Audit Technicians who participated in the department’s Professionals Training programme.
