Minister Faith Muthambi leads Broadcasting Digital Migration public awareness campaign in Ladybrand, 24 Mar

Minister of Communications, accompanied by Free State Premier Ace Magashule, takes the Broadcasting Digital Migration public awareness campaign to Ladybrand

Communications Minister Ms Faith Muthambi, accompanied by the Premier Ace Magashule, will lead a public awareness campaign to inform community members of Ladybrand, in the Free State, about government’s Broadcasting Digital Migration this Friday the 24th of March 2017. The speaker of the Provincial Legislature, Mamiki Qabathe, will also be in attendance.

The Free State provincial government has been a strong supporter of the broadcasting digital migration project, encouraging people in public platforms to register for the set-top-boxes. The Department of Communications has worked closely with the provincial leadership to drive broadcasting digital migration public awareness.

“It is encouraging to see the kind of support this project is receiving from the Premier and his provincial cabinet. This province has been at the forefront of driving public awareness around digital migration,” said Muthambi.

The Department of Communications is working together with the South African Post Office to reach communities and to distribute the subsidised television decoders to qualifying households. As part of its public awareness campaigns, the department has embarked on door to door visits, whilst also enlisting the support of provincial government to encourage qualifying residents to register.

To qualify for these government subsidised decoders, television viewing households must be earning less than R3200 per month. Additional information is available at all Post Office centres nationwide.
