MEC Donald Grant launches Integrated Provincial Traffic Operational Plan for festive season, 13 Dec

Tomorrow, Tuesday 13 December 2016, Western Cape Minister of Transport and Public Works, Donald Grant, will launch the Integrated Provincial Traffic Operational Plan for the Festive Season 2016/17.

An overview of the operational plan will be provided by Mr Kenny Africa, Chief of Provincial Traffic Services, with attendees including various road safety partners and public transport stakeholders.

Prior to the launch, Minister Grant will make an early morning stop at the Joe Gqabi Transport interchange in Philippi East, before heading to the official launch event at the Huguenot Tunnel.

Free inspections for public transport vehicles will be taking place at the Joe Gqabi Transport interchange. These inspections form part of the “Public Transport Sticker Project”.

The sticker project is a joint venture between the City of Cape Town, and the Department of Transport and Public Works, and is carried out during the busy “Exodus” periods of the year (Easter and Festive Season) when many public transport vehicles will be transporting passengers to their various holiday destinations.

Media are invited and welcome to attend both events. There will be opportunity for photographs and interviews. Please indicate via email if you will be in attendance.
