Basic Education visits schools as part of provincial school readiness visits

The Deputy President of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga and Free State Education MEC, Mr Tate Makgoe will tomorrow, Wednesday, 11 January 2017 visit Phehellang Secondary School in Parys, Free State as part of the Departments School Readiness and #backtoschool oversight and monitoring visits.

In addition, the Deputy Minister, Mr Enver Surty and Director General of Basic Education Mr Mathanzima Mweli will visit schools in the North West and Free State respectively under the same auspices. 

The Department of Basic Education officials assess the readiness of schools at the beginning of the academic calendar in order to advance any form of assistance from the earliest possible point in the year. The visits will also focus on amongst other aspects the delivery of LTSM (Learner and Teacher Support Material), adherence to teaching and learning from the 1st day of school including a meeting with school management teams to assess challenges and entrench the school improvement programs from the first day of school.
