Basic Education hands over Philemon Nkwenkwezi Junior Secondary School as part of ASIDI programme, 31 Jul

ASIDI continues delivery with the handover of Philemon Nkwenkwezi Junior Secondary School

The Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Delivery Initiative of the Department of Basic Education will on Friday, 31 July 2015, continue to deliver sustainable change to rural education when the Executive Mayor of Chris Hani Municipality Councillor Mxolisi Clifford Koyo, officially handover Philemon Nkwenkwezi Junior Secondary School in Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape.

ASIDI is an R8.2-billion programme whose mandate is the eradication of schools built from inappropriate material, in their entirety, and to provide basic services of water, sanitation and electricity to those schools that never had any.

Much more than a story of brick and mortar, ASIDI schools are helping to restore dignity and pride for people who had gone far too long deprived of facilities that are taken for granted elsewhere. The new state of the art facilities are providing an environment that enables optimum learning and teaching.

Members of the Media are invited to witness the handover and will be afforded interviews as follows:
