Acting Premier bemoans rise in violence against women and children

On behalf of the Free State Provincial Government and the people of the Free State in general, the Acting Premier would like to condemn these atrocities as they are barbaric, mean and seek to take our country backward.

The Acting Premier also notes that the Free State, which is ordinarily a safe province, has also witnessed a number of acts of violence against women. In a shocking incident, the community of Heidedal, Mangaung, were shocked to find the body of a 50 year old woman was found in a shallow stream in the area.

“We would like to send a strong message to all perpetrators of these evil acts. All those found guilty shall face the full might of the law. Women in this country have had a difficult past. The ANC government has made a lot of progress in fighting all forms of patriarchy, abuse of women and children as well as improving the socio-economic conditions of our vulnerable groups. These barbaric acts are an insult to this good progress that has been made. Enough is enough: - Acting Premier Leeto said.
