Dignity for all

Members of the media are invited to a two-day National Disability Summit to be hosted by Office on the Status of Disabled Person in The Presidency to discuss the implementation of the Optional Protocol of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The Convention and its Protocol were adopted on 13 December 2006 by the United Nations General Assembly and opened for signature on 27 October 2007. South Africa signed the Convention on 30 November 2007 as the country's commitment to protecting the rights of people with disabilities and ensuring that they enjoy equal status in society.
The Summit will be held under the theme "Justice and dignity for all" and will bring together stakeholders from government and civil society. Minister in The Presidency, Dr Essop Pahad will deliver the opening keynote address.

Venue: Sandton Convention Centre
