The Government of the Republic of South Africa declared the first Saturday of November as the National Children’s Day.

The aim of the National Children’s Day celebration is to highlight progress being made towards the realisation and promotion of rights of children.

The Department of Women Children and People with Disabilities will host the National Children’s Day event for 2013 in KwaZulu-Natal.

The Minister for the Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, Lulu Xingwana will visit a child-led project and host an interactive dialogue on Violence against children with the children to hear the children themselves articulate their views, expectations and how they see their future in South Africa.

The National Children’s Day celebration is scheduled to take place as follows:
