Gender Equality launches National Council on Gender Based Violence report, 17 Oct

Invitation to the launch of the Commission for Gender Equality Report on the National Council on Gender Based Violence

On the 17th October 2014, the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) will be holding a public launch of its a report on the National Council on Gender based Violence “Assessing the Effectiveness of the National Council on Gender Based Violence (GBV Council)”.

The report contains the findings of a study conducted in 2014 by the Commission as part of its Constitutional and Legal mandate to monitor and evaluate the work of state, private sector and civil society organisation in the implementation of policies, programmes and strategies to promote gender equality and transformation.

The report highlights the work of the Council, the challenges it faced during its first year of operation and prospects for the future. The launch of the report seeks to promote dialogue and in-depth discussions with relevant stakeholders in the gender sector regarding the work of the Council, its objectives and ways to make it more effective as part of the country’s National Gender Machinery.

The Commission for Gender Equality therefore encourages the relevant stakeholders to be part of this event and contribute in discussions about the Council and its future prospects.
