The Post Office Amendment Act 85 of 1991 intends:

  • to amend the Post Office Act, 1958, so as
  • to delete, define or further define certain expressions;
  • to provide for the incorporation of a postal company and a telecommunications company and for the powers of such companies;
  • to provide for the transfer of the postal enterprise to the postal company and of the telecommunications enterprise to the telecommunications company;
  • to provide for the conditions of service and pensicms of persons transferred to or employed by the postal company or  the telecommunications company;
  • to provide for the control of the Post Office Savings Bank by the postal company;
  • to further regulate matters in connection with the Post Office Savings Bank; and
  • to increase the fines which may be imposed under the Act; and
  • to provide for matters connected therewith.
