The Government Immovable Asset Management Act 19 of 2007 aims:
- to provide for a uniform framework for the management of an immovable asset that is held or used by a national or provincial department;
- to ensure the coordination of the use of an immovable asset with the service delivery objectives of a national or provincial department;
- to provide for issuing of guidelines and minimum standards in respect of immovable asset management by a national or provincial department; and
- to provide for matters incidental thereto.
Commencement
- 1 April 2011, Sections 6, 11, 12, 13 and 14 for any custodian or user which is a provincial department; Section 9, for any custodian or user which is a national department or provincial department (Gazette G 32169 of 28 Apr 2009)
- 30 April 2009, Sections 6, 11, 12, 13 and 14 for any custodian or user which is a national department; and all other Sections (Gazette G 32169 of 28 Apr 2009)
