The Defence Amendment Act 22 of 2010 aims:

  • to amend the Defence Act, 2002, so as:
    • to state who comprises the Military Command of the South African National Defence Force and to further regulate the appointment of its members;
    • to require members of the Reserve Force  contem­plated  in section 53(1) to enter into a contract of service with the Defence Force;
    • to require members of the Reserve Force to comply with a call-up order to report for duty; and
    • to establish the  Defencc Forcc Service Commission which is to make recommendations to the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans concerning conditions of service of members of the Defence Force; and
  • to provide for matters connected therewith.
