Commonwealth Conference on Education and Training Youth Workers (CCETYW) 2013: Call for Abstracts and Papers Extended to 11 January 2013

The Commonwealth Secretariat, in partnership with the Government of the Republic of South Africa (The Presidency), National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and the University of South Africa (Unisa), is organising an international conference on ‘Education and Training of Youth Workers’ The conference is structured to share experiences and lessons learnt as well as advancing the professionalisation of youth work agenda across the Commonwealth. The conference will be held on 18 – 20 March 2013 in the Republic of South Africa at the University of South Africa (Unisa).

Theme: Towards Professionalisation of Youth Work

Sub-themes:

Recognition of Prior Learning and Continuous Professional Development in Youth Work.
Workshops:

  • National and International recognition of youth work training
  • Continuous professional development for youth work practitioners
  • Recognition of Prior Learning in Youth Work
  • Standardisation of Youth Work Curriculum in the Commonwealth and International Recognition of Youth Work Education and Training

Workshops:

  • Standardisation of youth work studies
  • Current qualifications offered by institutions in youth development
  • Academic exchanges and Research in Youth Development Practice
  • Building and sustaining a strong front: formation of youth work professional associations

Workshops:

  • Building a strong front: lessons from Youth workers associations
  • Creating a commonwealth youth workers association
  • Commonwealth framework on youth work practice: towards standardisation
  • Promotion of Youth Work through National Youth Policie

Workshops:

  • Making youth work "fashionable": marketing and awareness creation on youth work International Mechanisms for Promoting Youth Development Practice.
  • Youth work in National Youth Policies (NYPs)

The Conference Organising Committee is now accepting submission of abstracts in English of NOT more than 300 words for presentation of papers at this prestigious conference on any of the above sub-themes (you can indicate the exact workshop you are targeting your paper for or indicate only the sub-theme at which point the organisers may chose the workshop space for you).

1. The author making the submission must provide: the full names, organisation and email addresses of all co-authors of the paper with an indication of who will most likely present the paper at the conference
2. Authors who submit abstracts for a paper should do so with the understanding that they plan to attend CCETYW 2013. Participants are expected to cover their own registration, travel and accommodation costs. All presenting authors should register and pay any required fees unless waived by the organising committee in writing. Papers where no author is registered for the conference will not appear on the programme.

  • Closing date for submission of abstracts is 11 January 2013 at 12h00 (GMT)
  • Successful applicants will be informed by 18 January 2013
  • Closing date for submission of papers is 1 February 2013 at 12h00 (GMT)
