'African Public Service in the Age of Open Government: Giving Voice to Citizens'

Africa Public Service Day (APSD) brings public servants together to commemorate the value and virtue of service delivery improvement to the communities they serve.

The aim of celebrating APSD is to recognise and  set standards that would restore prestige and dignity to the public service and raise performance levels and competence in government.

APSD aims at discovering innovations, rewarding excellence in the public sector; motivating public servants to further promote innovation; enhancing professionalism in the public service; raising the image of public service; enhancing trust in government; collecting, documenting and sharing best practices for possible replication within a country as well as across the African Continent.

The South African 2013 celebrations will be held in the Gauteng province and in Accra: Ghana for the continental event.
